The lovely, curvy cycle/walking path encircling the New Marston Recreation Ground. I have yet to actually walk on it. Always, ALWAYS cut across the grass and head straight to the bridge. I know my shoes will soak through to my socks, and I’m barely saving a minute, but walking across the grass through the dandelions and the weedy, REAL grass (I have a deep and abiding hatred for lawn grass) is worth every bit of damp-shoe-suffering.

The choice of white and grey gravel is perfect for night walking as well. Lights up the path when everything is too dark and the lights from the houses aren’t enough.

Plus, on the way back, the silhouette of the trash can at the corner with the vines behind it together look like a tall, spooky man.
